Maybe i should have gone to Africa or India, or any other destination where i'm needed, where i can change, where i can make a place a better place to live? Am I in the right place to fullfil with my expectations?

These are the questions that are stuck in my mind (especially when i look at the picture above).

Why do I ask these questions? Hong Kong is such a safe and settled place for life, enjoyment, meeting smart and intelligent people, children with iPads, reading the Bible through Bible applications. It seems that there's no need to speak and think about global issues, leadership, education, social business, empowering youth. There is simply none to safe or change the life, as i was thinking.

Thanks to my sister and discussing with my collegues, I finally have found the answer. There is no bigger challenge than to challenge the place which seems to be in a comfort, which is a secure place. There is no bigger challenge than to challenge someone's believes and values. Children of 15 years in Hong Kong are very worried about their future careers, jobs, because of common stressfullness people live here in, the main priorities in life are a good career and excellent job with high salary. This is what i want to challenge and to question during my internship.

So, what i'm doing for this:
  1. Delivering practical workshops together with my collegues about global issues, creativity, critical thinking to students of 15 years;
  2. Creating social media strategy for youth empowerment;
  3. Working with people who are in minority in Hong Kong (they are from different countries, speak Cantonese, but can't find job here).

So, instead of Africa or India, i'm here with really smart and obidient children, who can solve a marketing case within 5 minutes, easily do a presentation about iPhone5 or critically evaluate the +/- of military service in Hong Kong. (This is something amazing, i enjoy their way of thinking a lot!) Here I'm to challenge and question them, and to do many other positive things to this city and people.

  3. You have some questions, you see how something works, you can open eyes of this children and to show that not only comfort exists in the world and I don't believe that all 100% people of Hong Kong live in such conditions... I think you are at the right place.It just prepares you to new decisions...

    П.С. Я тоже на деяких фотках тебе ледве впізнала)

  4. Believe it or not I had the same feelings about Ukraine. By the end of your internship, you will have no regrets about your decision to go to Hong Kong. You will have loved your stay and wished you could stay longer. You will have impacted peoples lives, and they will have impacted yours. It sounds like you have a great attitude towards it all.

    Great blog! I look forward to more posts!
