Today i had a chat with my good friend Alla, who is now at AIESEC internship in Sri Lanka. We had a conversation about different societies we're currently in. Alla lives and works with people who are open, communicative, who can easily share their food with her, who openly can say that they love her. Hongkongers totally differ in this term. They rarely smile to you in the streets, they don't chat too much during work, they keep friendship only with their families and life-long friends.
I belong to open people, i love hugging, smiling, love when people scream on the streets and show their happinness (like it was in Portugal and India). And somehow, as i realize now, i was catching attention of people by being so open and smiling.
Here in Hong Kong in order to win trust of people and build a friendship you need to become patient, show your respect toward Hong Kong culture, share the same values, hobbies, ideas. Speak the same language. In this case they become attached to you, they start sharing with you their ideas and inner thoughts.
I like this way of becoming friends and attaching to people more. There is more truth in this way.
Every day i'm discovering more-more about this culture and these people, so one day i shall become fully integrated.
Dear collegues from Hong Kong, i should be happy to know your opinion! :)
