The books that made difference

Thanks to modern technologies and my sister, I started to read a lot. And it's an awesome feeling to open for myself amazing books from all over the world. Here I'd like to share with you the books I've read recently, so maybe some you could pick one and enjoy it the way I did.

* Golda Meir 'My Life'- the autobiography of Israeli prime-minister, the life story of the woman who loved her country more than her own life. Originally from Ukraine, she moved to the USA, and then returned to her home and became a leader of the country. The woman who was leading the economy, writing book, raising children, and defending her country from enemies at the same time. The book has many contradicitons, and people from Arab world critisize it, though it gives good insights on what does it mean to lead a country and stay devoted to the ideals during the whole life.

* Ayn Rand 'Atlas Shrugged' - a very fascinating fiction novel about enterpreneurship. The heroes are business people of the USA, who fight for their right to run companies, earn profit and have freedom from governement and all restrictions. The author is very radical in her opinion: the enterpreneurs are viewed as the only right people, and government and politicians - as evil, who only create barriers for people with the laws and the wya they run the country. So throught the book you observe their constant struggle. I received amazing insights the way the political systems are built, and how each decision of the governement can influence the plot of the history.

* If you are fond of Asia and travelling, you should read the book '7 years in Tibet' by Heinrich Herrer - this is the story of a man who spent amazing years in Tibet, embracing into buddhist way of life, nature, slow and joyful lifestyle. This is the book of coulors, smells, people, and history of small and one the most peaceful country Tibet before it was colonized by communists of China.

* Jung Chang 'Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China' - the story thrilled me and made me very emotional about all events mentioned there. The writer tells the story of her grandmother, mother and herself during their lives in different periods of Chinese history. Her grandmother started in ancient China, where woman is sold to be a wife by the parents, her mother was an active communist and then convicted by the communists, and her own story of being a small girl witnessing all horrors of communistic China, and her escape to Great Britain and becoming a famous writer. Jung Chang opens all details of communism, their murders, presecutions, reveals the true nature of Mao, and horrible effects of 'cultural revolution'. The book is forbidden to be read in China.

* Before reading the book 'Steve Jobs Autobiography' I was very skeptical towards praizing him so much, thanks to the book I realized what kind of person he was. Though being an unbearable boss, husband, father, he can't be not admired. For the products he created, for his enourmous hard-work, for striving for excellence, for putting beauty, design, details-matter approach on the 1st place. For educating us, customers, on choosing the best. I enjoyed every page of the book, felt angry at him, felt sorry together with him, and cried at that last episode when he was lying in his bed, exhausted, and wanted us, readers, to accept the true him, but also not to hate him.

Enjoy reading! :)
